About

Born in Seoul and raised in NY, Matte attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia for his MFA in film. At NYU Matte wrote and directed, EH JEUNG (2011), a short film which won the Alexis Award for Best Emerging Student Filmmaker and the award for Best Student Cinematography at the 17th Palm Springs International ShortsFest.

Matte also works as a freelance cinematographer, where his work on Grey Advertising's "Life Saving Dot" garnered five Cannes Lions.

Matte believes that visual storytelling and the simple act of bearing witness can illuminate us with the grace to dispel the darkness which surrounds us. Film can be transformative for those who view it and also for those who create it.
